President Boakai has suspended Madam Davidetta Browne-Lansanah, Chairperson of the National Elections Commission (NEC), following her dismissal of 25 employees believed to be Unity Party partisans. Although Madam Browne-Lansanah cited gross misconduct for their terminations, President Boakai has retaliated with an indefinite suspension against the NEC Chairperson.
The Liberian President, often criticized for his governance, stated in an Executive Mansion release that the suspension resulted from Browne-Lansanah’s unilateral decision to close the NEC office for a month and her actions in dismissing the employees without the NEC Board of Commissioners’ knowledge or approval. According to the President, these actions disrupt public order and stability
