Monrovia – Senator Edwin Melvin Snowe Jr. has recently voiced strong criticism against the Liberian Senate, accusing it of functioning as an extension of the Executive Branch and failing to fulfill its legislative responsibilities. In a candid interview, Snowe attributed the ongoing issues in the House of Representatives to President Joseph Boakai’s administration, arguing that the Senate’s lack of independence has led to a deadlock, hindering governmental progress.
Snowe also took aim at the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), criticizing its crisis resolution efforts as ineffective. He pointed to unclear decision-making processes and overlapping governmental roles as significant obstacles.
Despite the controversy, Snowe expressed his support for Speaker J. Fonati Koffa and urged lawmakers to unite in finding solutions. He emphasized the need for stronger leadership to address the country’s challenges and move forward.
Senator Snow, you are right; this is a result of lack of leadership on the part of the senators and the executive. The action of the executive to work illegally, the economics effect is hugh for our country and raise serious eyebrows on the governance of our country, drop potential investors away.
